uBid For Hurricane Relief Effort
Contributes $414,000+ To Hurricane Relief Charities
Cape Coastal Trading Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: CCSR.OB), uBid, Inc., which recently merged with Cape Coastal Trading Corporation, announced today that its’ uBid For Hurricane Relief program raised and donated approximately $414,000 to three charities working to help the victims of recent Hurricanes’ Katrina & Rita.
100% of the proceeds from the program were split evenly among the three charities, chosen because of their local focus on rebuilding in the areas most devastated by the storms: the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA), the Brett Favre Fourward Foundation and The RockWorks Foundation (in association with Ashton Kutcher).
“We are very proud to have had the opportunity to donate uBid’s online auction resources to help alleviate the suffering caused by the recent hurricanes and, in some way, accelerate the healing process,” said Robert Tomlinson, CEO of Cape Coastal.
uBid Inc. teamed up with AJ Discala, Pantera Sarah Productions and Lance Bass last October and November to launch “uBid For Hurricane Relief,” one of the largest celebrity auctions assembled to benefit the hurricane victims. The program began as a live star-studded event held at the Empire Ballroom nightclub in Las Vegas, Nevada and was followed by a month-long online auction at www.uBid.com which included hundreds of unique items donated by many of the countries biggest celebrities such as Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson, Brett Favre, Cameron Diaz, Ashton Kutcher, Matthew McConnaughey and more. Additional sponsors of the program included Petters Group Worldwide LLC and The Polaroid Corporation.
