uBid Online Auction Will Feature Magic Johnson and Dennis Rodman Signed Memorabilia, Portion of Proceeds to Benefit American Cancer Society
- NBA diehards looking to own a piece of history and do their part to find a cancer cure, won’t want to miss uBid's online auction starting September 23. Join in the fun and grab your chance at owning a piece of history. Every auction begins at $1. Items for auction will include memorabilia autographed by Hall of Fame member Magic Johnson, formerly of the Los Angeles Lakers, and former Chicago Bull superstar Dennis Rodman. Chicago-based uBid, a leading online auction marketplace, in partnership with Western Traders, a sports memorabilia company will provide the collectibles. In addition a portion of the proceeds will be donated to The American Cancer Society.
Items up for bid include 100 basketballs, 20 LA Laker jerseys, 10 1985 Lakers card, and 5 Mid-Summers Night Classic Programs. All items are signed and include a certificate of authenticity. Footage of the actual signings, which took place in Los Angeles on September 5 – 6, 2003, is viewable on the auction pages at uBid.com.
uBid's fundraising event consists of two separate one-week auctions with bids starting at $1. The first auction starts September 23, at 1 pm PT featuring items signed by Johnson and runs until September 30, 8 pm PT. The second auction will commence October 1, at 1 pm PT with items signed by Rodman and will run until October 8, 8 pm PT. Winning bidders will be contacted within 72 hours after auction close.
Mitch Uritz, a principal of Western Traders and a cancer survivor, says the auctions are his way of giving something back to The American Cancer Society, “We can't rest until we find a cure.
